In unfortunate news, poker legend David “Chip” Reese died last night in his sleep at his home in Las Vegas. Details of his death are still unknown but it is believed that Reese called his doctor around 10pm on Monday complaining of pneumonia syptoms but never went to the hospital and passed away in his sleep.
Reese, the three-time World Series of Poker bracelet winner, was probably best known for winning the inaugural $50,000 buy-in WSOP H.O.R.S.E tournament in 2006. Those inside the poker community will remember him as one of the greatest, if not THE greatest, cash game player who ever lived…

In a shocking turn of events Pokerstars announced that the recent winner of the World Championship of Online Poker Main Event, “TheV0id” has been disqualified. His title along with the $1,228,330.50 prize have been taken away and all players in the tournament have been awarded the prize money of one spot higher. Because of the legal investigation Pokerstars did not say much about it just that TheV0id violated the rules, which lead many to believe he multi-accounted the tournament.
The biggest beneficiary of the decision has to be Ka$ino, who will now go down in the books as the 2007 WCOOP Champion and has been awarded the one million plus first prize…

So my bad streak is still well alive. I played a sit and go last night and was 2nd in chips with 6 players remaining when the following hand happened. I started the hand with 2,432 chips, which was second to bruced24’s 3,937. I picked up Ks-Kh and with the blinds 50-100 I raised it to 300 and only bruced24 calls out of the small blind. The flop was 8h-5h-6s.
bruced24 led at the flop with a 300 bet and I decided to raise and make it 1000 to go. It was a pretty draw-heavy board and with us being the two chip leaders I thought that would end the hand right there. He flat-called making me think that he had a flush draw. Looking back I maybe should have raised him a little bit more.
The turn came the Jack of clubs, which seemed like a harmless card. bruced24 checked and I pushed for my remaining 1132 chips. If my initial read was right I really expected that bruced couldn’t call this bet. If he folded he would still have 2,637 in chips, which would still put him 2nd in chips. A call and a missed draw would leave him near the bottom. To my surprise he called after a couple minutes of thinking and turned over J-9 with no flush draw.
I had to dodge a Jack, 7 or 9 and couldn’t…The river came a 7 completing his straight and eliminating me in 6th…

I’ve been running terrible lately..I think that I’m playing pretty well and the cards just aren’t falling my way…Here’s an example:
Just played a $1o sit and go. It’s about the fourth hand of the tournament and I’m in the big blind and have Qh 7h. 3 People call and I check my option. The flop comes 7s 5s Ac. Not great but not bad. Small blind checks, I check, and ok4u2fold bets 40 chips. Mollysbest calls, small blind folds and decided to call since its a small bet and figure I’ll see another card. Turn is a great card the 7c. I decide to check with the intention of check-raising any draws out of the pot and winning it right there. ok4u2fold bets 60, Mollysbest calls 60 and I raise t make it 220. ok4u2fold re-raises me to make it 360 and mollysbest calls that bet. At this point, I know one of them has a draw I was guessing Mollysbest since he/she had just been calling each bet and since ok4u2fold re-raised my re-raise he probably has the case 7 and I put him on a hand like 7-8 or 7-9 suited since he wasn’t a blind. I push and both players call. The river is the Jack of clubs which didn’t really scare me cause the flush draw on the flop was spades. We turn up the cards and ok4u2fold shows Ah-8d…..and Mollysbest shows Kc-8c for a winning flush…
What exactly was she calling with on the flop? There was an ace on the board so even if she hit her King she had to worry about the ace.. And then to call off all her chips after the turn with the newly acquired flush draw.. Just terrible, but thats just my luck lately.
